Market Days

The Lorien Novalis craft market was established in 2003 and has grown into a busy market place with over 45 stalls. It has a lovely, warm, friendly atmosphere, attracting both locals and Sydney-Siders out for a weekend drive. There is a diverse range of quality products for sale, a large percentage from local crafts-people and growers. There are four markets throughout the year – Summer, Autumn, Winter, and the Christmas Market.  These are held in the grounds of Lorien Novalis School for Rudolf Steiner Education at 456-458 Old Northern Rd, Dural (UBD Map 151 1F).

Stalls include locally made honey, organic produce, jewellery, home crafts and giftware, natural beauty products, exquisite felt and silk, plants and a unique array of global goods.

Children are an important part of our market days.  Classes take the opportunity to fund-raise for trips and there are activities for children to participate in: face painting, music and more.

Catch up with friends and family - enjoy tea, coffee, chai and cakes, or lunch at the Rainbow Café while being entertained by local musicians and performers throughout the day.

Information Days are held each Market Day.  Phone 9651 2577 for an appointment to speak with staff about your child.

Inala Craft

Created by the adults from Dulkara, which is an Adult Day and Community Participation Service run by Inala, this craft is striking.  Design, enjoyment of art and craft plus attention to detail has made each piece unique and stylish. The selection on offer changes from market to market as new pieces are constantly being created from a wide range of crafts such as: Fabric Dying (Tee Shirts), Felting, Card & Paper Making, Pottery, Woodwork, Jewellery, Weaving, Batik, Silk Painting and Beeswax Candles.

Dulkara provides support for their clients in developing their individual potential for all-round personal growth, skills development, self-esteem, independence and genuine valued participation in the life of the community.  All programs have as their basis the needs, aspirations and ongoing development of the individual. For more information on the work of Dulkara and Inala click here.

Lorien Play Group

The talented parents of playgroup offer a variety of handmade craft which differs from market to market.   Steiner books on early childhood and other topics are available each market day.  The Lorien Playgroup is for children and their parents and is held in the beautiful grounds of Inala.

If you are interested in joining them please call Nathalie on 8814 6362.

 Lorien Novalis Craft Group

Steiner craft uses only natural materials, simplicity of design and colour to foster creativity and imagination in children’s play. The qualities of truth, beauty and goodness should be present in every aspect of the craft.  Goodness in the nature of the materials used, beauty in the finished result and truth in image and function. Parents enjoy the activity of making the craft and the sense of purpose involved is as important as the end result.  Quality encourages the children to become more observant with their surroundings and more appreciative of their possessions, which can enable them to recognise the true value of quality as they grow and develop.

Yia sources good quality spices and ingredients and sells Global Gypsy chai mix by the bag.  A variety of Common Ground Spelt Breads are available each market day.

Gemstone Jewellery

I started making jewellery with seed beads on a rainy day whilst on holidays in Byron Bay 3 years ago and have now developed to the stage where I am using all kinds of gemstones.  Given the nature of gemstones my pieces are all one-of-a-kind.  I search everywhere for unusual pendant pieces, only buying one of each, and then add components of Czech crystal, freshwater pearls and gemstones to make a truly original piece of jewellery. I also make earrings and bracelets to match.  I have recently added watches and glasses chains to my range, also done in gemstone which is what makes them unique.

I only use genuine stones and I can promise you that if you fall in love with one of my pieces, you will never see it anywhere else.

I am happy to design something special for you or even to redesign that set of favourite beads you have at home that could do with a “freshen up”.   Come and have a chat with me at the next market, I would love to see you!
